Haha. For the first time in about 14 years, I’ve managed to get some old demos tapes, a cassette deck and a computer into the same room at the same time.
These two songs were made in 1993/4, and they were to be released as an EP on Go! Discs. The plan was to go into a studio and re-record them – these versions here were knocked out in my bedroom on an Atari ST, and a budget Yahama sound module. But then they dumped me in favour of Portishead. And there died my musical career, pretty much.

Listening to them now, the arrangements are a bit fiddly, and the sounds a bit samey, and they’re very much of their time with those rising and falling filters. And they go on quite a bit too long, probably. And a vocal would have been nice.
I can hear a bit of Orbital circa-Belfast in there, that I wasn’t really aware of before. And the crescendo bit in “where do we go” is straight out of The Cocteau Twins songbook circa-Head Over Heels, but performed on cheap synths.
Pleasant enough though.
