It’s difficult to reconcile the Adebayor in this lovely Radio 4 programme (featured on Speechification) with the one who’s boring us to tears with his story after story about wage-hike demands and doing one to Milan/Barcelona.

It follows his ‘Tour of Hope’ to Togo, Nigeria and Ghana, where he goes around talking to kids of the importance of education and generally bouncing around and being Adebayorish. It’s obviously something that’s important to him; in fact from beginning to end he comes across as a warm, open-hearted and generous young man (except for the bit where his mum says he’s never invited her to come and watch him at the Emirates - shocking!).
